Releases by teenagersintokyo

Teenagersintokyo is a London, UK, dark pop band (formed in Sydney, Australia), consisting of: Samantha Lim (vocals), Sophie McGinn (guitar), Miska Mandic (keyboard), Linda Marigliano (bass) and Rudy Udovich (drums). Their début EP was "Teenagersintokyo" (Nov 2006) and their latest album is "Sacrifice" (Apr 2010, Back Yard). They anounced on Twitter that be band entered hiatus in 2011. They have earned a fearsome reputation, playing sell-out shows with !!!, Cansei de Ser Sexy, The Slits, Midnight Juggernauts and Gossip. Now they've relocated to London and have been holed away in the Welsh mountains with, Bat for Lashes producer, David Kosten - to record their highly anticipated, upcoming album, to be released in early 2010. But you won’t have to wait until then to hear the first fruits of that union –the double A side single "Isabella / Long Walk Home" is out on 5th October on ltd edition 7" vinyl and digital download. Serving as a tasty, succinct refresher to the band, "Isabella" takes its cues not from their supposed contemporaries but from the storied history of offbeat punk rockers like Siouxsie and the Banshees and X-Ray Spex, producing an angular pop gem that is as insidious as it is off-kilter. "Long Walk Home", on the other hand, is the more tender side of Teenagersintokyo, with lead singer Samantha purring “It’s a long walk home, and I want to walk with you" over a gently rolling landscape of shimmering synth's and girl group style "oooh ooh"'s.
