DESCRIPTION:
Rock / Pop LP - Without doubt Last Dinner Party will be the sound of 2024. Their debut album Prelude To Ecstasy is released via Island Records. It was produced by James Ford in London, and features the breakthrough singles, “Nothing Matters”, “Sinner”, and “My Lady Of Mercy”.

At the turn of 2023, The Last Dinner Party was little more than a new name being shared amongst those that had caught them live. Great songs, strong aesthetic. Having spent much of 2022 writing those songs, road-testing them, and then taking them into the studio, it wasn’t until April when the band released the instantly more-ish, dark guitar-pop of Nothing Matters that seemingly everyone had now formed an opinion on them. It was an introduction that took the online world by storm, and yet behind all the excitement and narrative was a fantastically confident indie-rock song by a band doing it the old-fashioned way, out on the road.

Third single, My Lady Of Mercy, an almost gothic, haunting rock song, and now with this atmospheric and anthemic ballad, On Your Side, the band’s songwriting is testament to all the buzz and excitement already accumulated. As it should be. Rather than wilt under the spotlight, they’ve arguably become a tighter, stronger unit because of it.

London based newfound baroque indie-pop darlings The Last Dinner Party have been at the centre of some controversy ever since they released their hit debut single 'Nothing Matters' earlier in 2023. Gigging relentlessly over the past few years, the group would draw the ire of Twitter addicts who accused the band of the dreaded "industry plant" label in a similar vain to the negativity lobbed at Wet Leg in 2022. While likely stemming from a minor support slot for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park before they'd unveiled any studio material, the power of the aforementioned lead single as well as the subsequent follow up 'Sinner', have quelled much of the grumblings. Following support slots for Lana Del Rey and Florence & The Machine, as well as appearing on Jools Holland, the uphill battle the women have faced thus far looks set to finally summit with the arrival of their highly anticipated debut full-length Prelude To Ecstasy in early 2024. Mark our words, this will be one the first releases of 2024 you see plastered all over the internet and again this time next year during the AOTY round up. Think Kate Bush meets Siouxsie & The Banshees with a smattering of Warpaint, and you're (almost) on the right track.

Last FM Information on The Last Dinner Party

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
The Last Dinner Party is a British indie-rock band from London formed in 2021 by Abigail Morris (vocals), Lizzie Mayland (vocals, guitar), Emily Roberts (lead guitar, mandolin, flute), Georgia Davies (bass), and Aurora Nishevci (keys, vocals). The band signed with Island Records before releasing their debut single "Nothing Matters" in April 2023, with three more singles released subsequently in 2023. Morris, Davies, and Mayland met in 2020 in London before starting university and decided to form a band after attending gigs together in London. Their original name The Dinner Party was changed to avoid confusion with the Dinner Party hip hop supergroup. After signing with Island Records, they released their debut single Nothing Matters on 19 April 2023. During the summer of 2023, the band supported Florence + the Machine, and played several festivals in the UK, Ireland, and Europe including Glastonbury and Latitude. Read more on Last.fm.
