DESCRIPTION:
2x12" Dark Dub With Reggae Flavours - After the system smashing success of 2015's "Late Night Endless", UK dub pioneer Adrian Sherwood and Bristol dubstep don Pinch get collaborative all over again with another heavyweight set of seismic bass, scattershot funk and skittering percussion. It's On-U Sound vs Tectonic and "Man Vs Sofa" for the dub-loving duo, who pay their respects to UK Funky, dub, bass and broken beat across twelve diverse tracks. The serrated basslines and mind-piercing bleeps of custom-made club killers give way to the smooth and jazzy sound of sax, jazz guitar and virtuoso piano as Sherwood & Pinch utilise the talents of guest stars Lee Scratch, Martin Duffy (Primal Scream), Taz (Dizzee Rascal) and Skip McDonald (Sugarhill Gang). To (slightly) misquote Paul Johnson, "feel their mother fucking bass in your face."

To fans of U.K. bass music culture, the idea of a collaboration between legendary dub/post-punk producer Adrian Sherwood and dubstep originator Pinch (Rob Ellis) sounds like a re

Last FM Information on Sherwood

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Sherwood is the name of at least 2 bands: 1. Sherwood was an alternative rock/indie rock band from San Luis Obispo, California, United States. The band formed in late 2002 while several founding members were attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California. With Nate Henry on bass and vocals, Dan Koch on drums, and Chris Armstrong on guitar, the group took the moniker "Sherwood" because of an inside band joke about creating an album that synced with Disney's 1973 "Robin Hood." With the addition of drummer Joe Greenetz in 2003, the band's lineup changed, and Dan Koch became the band's second guitar and their main songwriter. Later that year, keyboardist Chris Keene joined the members of Sherwood, and when Chris left the band to play for Number One Gun, Mike Leibovich took his place about a month after. They released an independent self-titled EP in 2004 before securing a deal with SideCho Records in late 2004. They recorded "Sing, But Keep Going" in January 2005 at Sonikwire Studios in Irvine, California. Produced by Michael Rosas, it was released on May 31, 2005. Later that same year, founding member and guitarist Chris Armstrong announced that he was leaving the band. His position was initially filled by Lucas Starr, then their friend Gabe Dutton. Finally, guitarist Dave Provenzano joined the band in 2007. They released a five-song EP titled "Summer EP" on May 8, 2006 which was distributed on Absolute Punk. The EP was also released on CD with a few extra songs and sold on tour. Since the band's contract with SideCho Records was only a one-record deal, they were given much interest from many noteworthy record labels. In early November 2006, they signed a contract with Myspace Records, who released their sophomore effort "A Different Light" on March 13, 2007. They wrote "A Different Light" in Mexico and recorded it at Motor Studios in San Francisco, CA. On September 13, 2009 the band released their 3rd album "QU" in the United States. The album was recorded in Valley Village, CA at Seagrass Studios with producer Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate, Ben Lee, Far, Say Anything, Pete Yorn, Smashing Pumpkins) at the helm. The band's original sound can be compared to "the Get Up Kids meets Mineral meets Further Seems Further," but since their founding in 2002, they've come to develop a sound that blends old-fashioned rock and progressive alternative, with ties to standards set by the Beach Boys. In 2010 Sherwood announced at a show that the band would be releasing a new album in the summer of 2012. However, in early 2012 the band announced their official break up. On the band's Facebook, they said that they preferred to dedicate the rest of their lives to their families. In September 2015, after a three and a half year disbandment, a campaign to fund the band's fourth studio album was created on Indiegogo.com and the goal of $20,000 was reached in just five days. The new album, "Some Things Never Leave You" was released June 17, 2016. The band's line up includes: Nate Henry – Lead vocals, bass guitar Joe Greenetz – Drums Dan Koch – Lead Guitar, Background vocals 2. Sherwood was an experimental post-hardcore band based out of Wisconsin and South Carolina, United States. Comprised of singer/guitarist/bassist Alan Brucke and guitarist/drummer Andrew Glasscock. They were based out of South Carolina and Wisconsin, respectively. The group first made contact in December of 2021 when Andrew reached out to Alan via YouTube comments on a Dance Gavin Dance vocal cover. Since then they have written and released 3 studio EPs and one album while finding a sound that suits their specific skillsets and tastes. The pair uses ambient, noodly guitar-work and deep, booming bass-lines to set a mood while the grit of the vocals and the busy thumping of the drums drives the music forward and makes a statement of cathartic unrest. Influences include but are not limited to: Movements, Will Swan, Circa Survive, Balance And Composure, Royal Coda, La Dispute, Silverstein. facebook.com/sherwoodazsc sherwoodazsc.bandcamp.com open.spotify.com/album/5hsnV231PSjoDxZhbSAqkk?si=mOwhe9XTScGOUgTGkTxNcQ instagram.com/sherwood_band youtube.com/channel/UCnmJUrxFhX_vu92hsCIwJbw?app=desktop Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on Pinch

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
There are at least two artists known as Pinch on last.fm 1. The artist known as Pinch is a pioneer of dubstep, the sound that sparked one of the biggest waves of musical creativity ever seen in the UK. Subloaded, which he began in his adopted hometown of Bristol back in 2004, was the first dedicated dubstep and grime night outside of FWD>> in London, and to this day the impact of the party still ripples through Bristol's bass community. Techno's endless permutations are as much an inspiration as dub in Pinch's music. His DJ sets and productions take the term "dub techno" not as a concrete blueprint laid down by Basic Channel in the 1990s, but as a creative springboard to explore and combine two of the most versatile music styles ever conceived. The bass and dynamics of dub are interwoven with the tense soundscapes and atmospheres of techno. This is why you might find Pinch scorching the dance floor at a techno club one week, before rolling out a set of the heaviest dub, dubstep and dancehall the next. The strength and flexibility of Pinch's sound has naturally created a global demand for his DJ sets. Beyond regularly playing in the UK and Europe, he's toured in over 40 countries, which has included the USA, Canada, Japan, China, Australasia, South East Asia, Russia and Mexico. This ongoing activity has also been reflected in media and radio interest. Pinch has recorded mixes for BBC R1, 1Xtra, Kiss FM, Resident Advisor, FACT and Red Bull (with whom he's worked on various projects), while his 2012 session for the Fabriclive series remains a landmark in his career. The vehicle for so much of Pinch's work down the years has been Tectonic. Since founding the label in 2005, he's released music from trailblazers like Loefah, Skream, Scientist, 2562, Photek, Digital Mystikz, Distance, Flying Lotus, Joker, Addison Groove and Peverelist, and he continues to cultivate fresh talent who have an eye on club music's future. Seminal Pinch releases like the 2007 album Underwater Dancehall and tracks such as "Midnight Oil," "Blow Out The Candle" and "The Boxer" have all appeared on Tectonic. Away from home, his releases and remixes have featured on leading labels like Planet Mu, Soul Jazz, Punch Drunk, Deep Medi, Swamp 81, Ninja Tune, Warp, Wichita, Wax and On-U Sound, collaborations that have yielded a few bass music classics—"Qawwali," "Punisher," "Croydon House," "Swish." This openness to collaboration has been one of Pinch's defining artistic characteristics. He's worked with a broad swathe of club music producers down the years, which more recently has included a partnership with Mumdance that's given us anthems like "Turbo Mitzi," "Strobe Light" and "Big Slug," which featured Riko Dan. Pinch's collaborative work in the album format has also lived long in the memory. In 2011, he linked with the inimitable Shackleton to write an album for Honest Jons, while his ongoing work with the legendary Adrian Sherwood has so far produced two albums, 2015's Late Night Endless and 2017's Man Vs Sofa. The pair toured the globe together playing live dub sets as Pinch & Sherwood. Moving into 2019, and with a deadly 12-inch for Berceuse Heroique soon to drop, Pinch has lined up a brand new series of collaborations that will be tearing through soundsystems in the near future. A follow-up to 2007's Underwater Dancehall album is also in the works, a project that will build upon the longstanding foundations laid down by one of UK club music's true originals. 2.
