DESCRIPTION:
4 Artists - Deep Tech - Lush Souundscapes - Following a string of alluring, melody-rich, digital-only EPs, Russian imprint Peace Symphonies makes its debut on wax with a multi-artist extravaganza. Gorge Hewek sets the tone with opener 'Peace Symphonies', a warming, sun-kissed slab of kaleidoscopic deep house/tech-house fusion that reminded us of some of the material released by the All Day I Dream label. Makebo's 'You' is a soft focus, dewy-eyed slab of sunrise-ready bliss underpinned by shuffling house drums, while 'Lazos' by Simon Vuarambon is a crunchy and groovy workout smothered in relaxed jazz piano solos and synth strings. Perhaps best of all though is the gorgeously grandiose, life-affirming dancefloor colour that is the Volen Sentir Pure Magic Healing version of 'Jinx' by Lost Desert and Hermanez.

Hewek was actually born and raised in Bulgaria, where he credits his parents' record collection with an early, generically fickle passion for music. That same enthusiasm quickly led to a slightly more serious and conservative education, with special attention paid to the accordion and double-bass - both of which seem rather unwieldy options for a young boy. His transition to Russia commenced with a certain wanderlust, caused and funded by DJ-ing work. In fact, at the age of sixteen and with the help of his then girlfriend, he was also playing on a regular basis in Italian venues. This enthusiasm for the outside, surrounding world endures today in that Hewek still carries with him a dictaphone, in order to record ambient noises, which are subsequently built into his compositions. Likewise, he is an avid collector of still-life natural images, which are lovingly gathered on several web venues. They underscore the kind of structural beauty that goes unnoticed in everyday situations. Reality could use a little improvement. Read more on Last.fm. Last FM Information on Lost Desert

There are multiple artists with this name: 1) Lost Desert was a French coldwave band, founded in 1986 in the suburbs of Paris, near Versailles. The name of the band was suggested by a friend and appreciated for its mysterious meaning. They found inspiration in bands like The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Bauhaus, but also movies and visual art. Initially, the band was founded by two friends and their younger brothers. Feeling they could improve the vocals, they soon hired a female singer and started to play live in the Paris area, using a 4-track device for recording, usually with a drum machine. Lost Desert released their first cassette "Heterogen Infiltration", an entirely homemade affair, down to the duplication, in 1989. This tape was sold in a few specialized record stores in Paris. A year later, New Horizon released the album "A travers le miroir", featuring both new versions of songs and fresh tracks. Several songs by the band can be found on various tape-only compilations, like: "Nos années folles", "Ineptie", "Mea Pulpa". The last track by Lost Desert was released in 1991 on "Supercherie", when the band didn’t even exist anymore. 2) Lost Desert is a psychedelic rock solo project from Barcelona, Spain. Released the album "Wasteland" in January 2014. Bandcamp page: http://lostdesert.bandcamp.com Read more on Last.fm.
