DESCRIPTION:
2x12" Disco, Funk, Soul & Nu Disco - For the latest volume in their crate-digging disco series, Under The Influence, Z Records has turned to long-serving British brothers Simon and Robin Lee AKA Faze Action. In keeping with the series' dusty-fingered ethos, there's plenty of brilliant rarities to set the pulse racing - see the smooth '80s boogie of Leston Paul's "All Nite Tonight", the up-tempo hustle of Oscar Perry's "Body Movements" - as well as a smattering of obscure versions of classic dancefloor hits (check Michele Claire's version of "In The Bush"). You'll also find a smattering of killer Faze Action edits, too, with their version of Midway's "Set It Out" and Mikki's freestyle-era boogie ham "Dance Lover" standing out.

Z Records continues its commitment to unearthing the obscure and long forgotten tracks from the last 40 years through the ever-popular Under The Influence series. Following on from Red Greg, Paul Phillips, James Glass, Nick The Record and Sean P it’s now the turn of one of the scenes most respected live disco acts and renowned DJ’s, Faze Action.

Robin and Simon Lee aka Faze Action, were championing disco and all its afro off-shoots back in the mid 90’s when it certainly wasn’t the latest trend to do so. “By the mid 90s we were heavily into Disco. Fuelled by radio shows from the likes of Norman Jay as well as conversations with customers in the record store where I worked, who were all super obsessed, we would talk disco for hours.” remembers Simon Lee. It was however their Original Disco Motion and In The Trees releases on nuphonic records that shaped the Faze Action sound and were defining moments of the time and played a large part in coining the term nu-disco.

Fast forward 20+ years and the brothers Lee are still pushing the modern disco sound with their live sets and studio productions s Faze Action. Alongside their studio work they’ve always been serious record collectors so their selections for this latest Under The Influence album are reflective of their extensive collecting and digging history. As Simon confirms, “searching for and buying old records helps to keep our musical thirst alive and is a constant source of inspiration for both our DJ sets and our original productions.”

Last FM Information on Faze Action

Please note the information is done on a artist keyword match and data is provided by LastFM.
Faze Action are a British band, headed up by brothers Simon and Robin Lee. Over the years Faze Action blended electronica with classical, pan-African, and latin music. Their music is also heavily influenced by funk, disco, and jazz. The Lee brothers grew up in Amersham in the London commuter belt, they were both interested in music from an early age, Robin went on to study music at Goldsmiths College in London. The pair collaborated for the first time to produce the Original Disco motion EP in 1995. Shortly afterwards Robin moved to Osaka in Japan to work as an English teacher, meanwhile the success of their debut EP won them a contract with Nuphonic Records. The pair then produced a single called "In the Trees", which is still probably their most famous track. After Robin returned to the UK, the pair released their first album; Plans and designs. The pair have subsequently released a number of singles and albums, their tracks have been remixed by the likes of Rae and Christian and Cinematic Orchestra. Read more on Last.fm.
