4 Tracker - Deep House -Here's something of a surprise: an EP on Running Back jointly produced by veteran German house producer Boris Dlugosch and rising star Cassara. The inter-generational duo has put together a set of tracks that veers closer to Italo-disco and cheery Balearic goodness than the funk-fuelled peak-time house that Dlugosch is often associated with. Our highlight is probably "Nightflight", a pleasingly baggy concoction that wraps alien melodies and vintage synthesizer motifs around a sparse drum machine groove. That said, opener "Traveller", which sounds like a cross between Electra's 1982 classic "Feels Good (Carrots & Beats)" and lightly bouncy house, and sparkling Italo-disco-meets-Daft Punk throb-job "Intervox" are also rather good.
Much could be said about German house royalty Boris Dlugosch. From his teen DJ years under the wings of Front's legendary Klaus Stockhausen in Hamburg to his own marvelous tenure there that is pretty much synonymous with the explosion of Acid House in its proto- and post-incarnations. One could examine his role as a herald of US garage and Jersey house or as a remixer of underground gone pop records. But we will leave that and other stories for the Front page soon. The 'Traveller EP' is the result of Dlugosch and Cassara meeting at a mutual friend of theirs, getting excited about their shared love for classic synths (see Sh-101 for the Traveller bass line) and exploiting the latter's extensive synth collection. What you get: classic disco, French house, electro-funk, DJ sound effects (that tractor plowed the Front EVERY night) and most of all fun, fun and a little bit of extra fun. Chin-stroking impossible....

Boris Dlugosch is a house music producer from Germany. Boris is usually known for funky/deep house tracks, mostly produced in conjunction with Mousse T. and Michi Lange, his partners in the Peppermint Jam Records label.
Dlugosch had a few occasional hits in the club circuit in the 1990s, beginning with the two tracks created with Mousse T. under the Booom moniker, with vocals by Inaya Day, "Hold Your Head Up High" and "Keep Pushin'", and "Check It Out (Everybody)", under the alias BMR(a regular partnership with Michi Lange). More recently, Dlugosch's name achieved some fame in the year 2000 thanks to "Never Enough", a track that featured the voice of Moloko's vocalist Róisín Murphy.
Boris Dlugosch is also one of the most sought out remixers in the electronic music business, having remixed Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, Italian rapper Jovanotti, disco band First Choice, and other well-known electronic music artists such as Röyksopp, Moloko and Daft Punk.
