DESCRIPTION:
Pumpin Vocal House/ Tech With Scissor Sisters Vocalist On Lead - Following the runaway success of his label debut ‘Mvinline’, Boys Noize returns to Defected for the anticipated follow-up single ‘All I Want’, featuring the unmistakable vocals of Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears. Starting its life as a basic demo made by the pair years ago for Alex (aka Boys Noize) to play at one of Jake’s infamous NYC apartment parties, it had since remained a hidden gem on a broken hard drive since that very night. Years later, Alex rediscovered the track and decided to give it new life for 2021, giving way to ‘All I Want’. Taking inspiration from classic Chicago house for the original, this 12” package also features Boys Noize’s NRG Remix, which features the verse of the original demo, and remixes from platinum selling artist Purple Disco Machine, who lends his signature bounce and funk, and Life And Death founder DJ Tennis, who adds depth to the release with hazy, atmospheric mix.

Boys Noize and Defected seem like rather odd bedfellows on paper. The former is known for making caustic, in your face club tracks that are aggressive and heavily textured. The latter is one of house music's most smooth and feel good labels. Yet with 'All I Want (feat Jake Shears)' they somehow find a sweet spot between the two. The tune has gauzy chord vamps and and a rigid beat, but the vocal is catchy and smooth, while the bass sequence is sure to lock in any crowd. The remixes take in star-gazing, upbeat disco house funk and dub, stripped back and trance inducing minimalism from DJ Tennis.

Boys Noize is the stage name of Berlin-based DJ and producer Alex Ridha. Ridha (born in 1982, Hamburg) started producing and DJing at early age to find himself supporting the likes of Felix Da Housecat and DJ Hell in a matter of time. Nowadays Ridha himself is known as a one of the most valued electronic artists, awarded with the Independent Music Award in 2010 as well as 3 years in a row Best Electronic Artist on Beatport. Has a refreshing approach: not afraid to break new grounds, beaming a myriad of influences from his hip-hop and disco roots to create an innovative sound. His DJ-sets are equally uplifting and he's regarded by many as one of the worlds' best DJs, not only technically but also as a showman. Seamlessly mixing and remixing on the spot, Ridha never fails to deliver high-powered and gripping sets: unforgettable experiences for the witnesses. Alex released his early work on labels such as International Deejay Gigolos Records, Kitsuné and Turbo Recordings. In order to retain full artistic freedom however, he established his imprint Boysnoize Records in 2005. His highly anticipated long players "Oi Oi Oi" and its successor "Power", the two long players that included contemporary anthems such as "Don't Believe The Hype", "&Down" and "Jeffer". He remixed: David Lynch, N.E.R.D, Depeche Mode, Snoop Dogg and The Chemical Brothers, amongst many other great artists and became a producer of note, highly sought after having worked with Kelis, UK rapper Kano and Black Eyed Peas to name a few. Chilly Gonzales' "Ivory Tower" is his first fully produced and co-written album which was released in august 2010. He has further collaborated with his friend and fellow Erol Alkan: The first record "Death Suite"/"Waves" was released on Ridhas imprint BNR, follow up "Lemonade" / "Avalanche" came out on Erol's label Phantasy Sound. An "Avalanche" re-release, a new version featuring Brit-God Jarvis Cocker, is due for early 2011. Ridha is currently working on the forthcoming Spank Rock album and as well as with New York's finest Scissor Sisters. His recent release of original Boys Noize tracks in September 2010 celebrated the 50th release on Boysnoize Rec as well as the launch of the first sublabel BNR Trax which presented its first release in October 2010. Last FM Information on Jake Shears

Jake Shears (born Jason Sellards on October 3, 1977 in Arizona) is the vocalist for the American alternative music group the Scissor Sisters. Sellards attended Occidental College in Los Angeles. When Sellards was 19, he traveled to Lexington, Kentucky to visit a classmate, who introduced him to Scott Hoffman (Babydaddy). Sellards and Hoffman hit it off immediately and, a year later, both moved to New York. In New York, Sellards attended Eugene Lang College, where he studied fiction writing, and wrote pieces for the gay magazine HX. For a while, Sellards was a fixture on the New York gay and electroclash scene, as well as a stripper in alternative gay bars (including the legendary IC-Guyz). Sellards and Hoffman formed the Scissor Sisters in 2002 as a kind of performance art lark, playing outrageous shows in clubs like Luxx, the heart of the electroclash scene in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where Sellards lived. After a couple years struggling in New York (working with record label A Touch of Class, who produced Comfortably Numb and Filthy/Gorgeous), the Sisters finally found success in the UK/Ireland - ending 2004 with the biggest-selling album of the year in the UK. In concert, Shears is known for provocative dancing and often going near-nude, hearkening back to his former occupation as a stripper. He, along with his band, has become especially popular in the GLBT community. Shears, as well as fellow band members Babydaddy and Del Marquis, are openly gay. Shears performs with Erasure's Andy Bell on Thought It Was You, on Bell's 2005 album Electric Blue. He has also collaborated with Tiga, and wrote the hit single, I Believe In You, for Kylie Minogue with Babydaddy. Read more on Last.fm.
