1 London based World Fusion quintet www.zum.org.uk 2 Argentinian-Japanese guitar trio www.zumguitars.com Both bands mention 'Piazzola' and 'world music' on their web pages. ======================================= 1 ZUM a world fusion quintet http://www.zum.org.uk Adam Summerhayes -fiddle Dave Gordon -piano Richard Pryce -bass Eddie Hession -accordion Chris Grist -cello From the diasporan melting pot of cosmopolitan London, ZUM's ground-breaking world fusion weaves melodies from around the globe into an exhilarating musical journey. The band takes you from heart-stopping beauty to unbuttoned passion and explosive rhythmic power - sophisticated jazz magically glides in to wild gypsy fiddling; Celtic lament to hot-blooded Arabic melody. http://www.zum.org.uk ----------------------------------------------------- 2 Argentinian-Japanese guitar trio Shinkuro Matsuura (Japan) Luciano Pietrafesa (Argentina) Fumihito Hatano (Japan) ZUM is an Argentinian-Japanese guitar trio, specialized in the use of steel String acoustic guitars tuned to the so-called New Standard Tuning, which gives their characteristic sound a much wider sonic range. ZUM's main driving force may very well be rooted in the Argentinian tradition of the Tango, however, their diverse musical escapades serve as examples of their versatility and virtuosity. Typically, one may hear Piazzola side by side with Bartók, The Beatles or Stevie Wonder, this without losing the inner coherence and distinct identity of the group. In this sense ZUM is a delight to experience live! The trio met for the first time in August 1995, during a Guitar Craft Seminar in West Virginia/USA, after which they collaborated on various projects, recording and touring through Europe and Japan. Since January 2002 they have also been working as part of the legendary guitar ensemble "The League of Crafty Guitarists". It was from these common activities and experiences that ZUM emerged and evolved. Tours through Germany, Spain, Italy, USA, Japan, Chile and Argentina followed. ZUM released their first CD in 2003. Their CD "Angel Suite" was launched during a tour through Argentina in May 2006 and in Spain during July 2007. In the Same Boat (2012) http://www.zumguitars.com Read more on Last.fm.
