Releases by sri

There are three or more artists with this name. Sri is Arjun Ram Srivatsa who released his debut album Boyish on CA label Brad Grammar. Boyish is "sample based childhood nostalgia filtered together for small guys." Sri aka Sri Keshava aka Kim Shopav [birth name] is a solo artist who was born in Sydney, NSW, Australia. She was a former member of Baby Gopal and Shelter. Her music tends to have Krishna themes and ranges from punk to devotional. -------------- Sri was conceptualized by Jared Mclemore and Brandon Beard in late 2003 when Jared returned to Jackson Tennessee. In March of 2004 we settled on the initial lineup of the band, with Jared McLemore on guitar, Brandon Beard on electric bass, Melissa Willis on keyboards and Ben Mansfield on the drum kit. After recording the original Self Titled 4 song demo with Ian League in May 2004, Sri played heavily in their area, sonically exploring and blending the textures of dream pop, instrumental rock, ambience, pyschedelia, drone, doom metal and space rock. Reviews in local papers as well as in underground music zines popped up from time to time, along with various college radio airplay. The band relocated to Atlanta and Pittsburg momentarily around June 2004, but eventually made their way back to Tennessee later that year (Except Brandon, who remained in Pittsburgh until early 2005). The band would begin writing a new record around this point, and returned to live playing shortly thereafter. In Early September, 2005 they recorded various tracks that would become the Full length album "From the Earth We Were Born" an 8 track album, and later released it with remastered tracks in January of 2006. In March 2006 Ben Mansfield left the band to pursue his education out of town and Mitchell Manley stepped in to fill the position on drums. Casey Patrick, a long time friend of all the members, joined the band shortly thereafter as a second guitarist, giving the band the freedom to experiment with chord stacking and suspensions,a trait that would become the bands hallmark on their second full length album, "Synaesthesia" with was originally released June 3rd, 2006. It was recorded and mixed by Dusty Clayton with additional mixing by Ian League (logos circle seven, thedayisdone, garfight). After completing the album, Melissa continued her schooling in Nashville, and the rest of band continues to push forward, putting together yet another album, a split full length with Virginia's own reverb/fuzz worshippers Graboids, that will be released in the July of 2007, with intentions of having it pressed as their first Vinyl release. "Synaesthesia" was also re-recorded and set for re-release July 2007, along with an as of yet untitled new full length. Several tracks from each of their albums are currently being played on numerous college radio stations, and selected pieces are currently being featured on compilations, including the Jerk Off Records releases. Sri are currently playing regional and local shows, and small tours during school, holiday, and work breaks. (c) http://www.myspace.com/calamaribooking Read more on Last.fm.
