Longplayers stands for energetic dance with an alternative tendency. Several dance styles come together in their own dynamic Longplayers sound based on nu skool breaks, drum 'n bass and old skool beats. Longplayers is raw and dark, sometimes gentle, but always innovative and explosive. At live performances Longplayers convinces the audience each time with their fresh breakbeats, percussion, scratches, vocalist and drummer. Longplayers was founded in the summer of 1999. Producer Bart Knol and scratcher Stephan van den Bos combine their forces and create a progressive dance formula, which made them win the 'Grote Prijs van Nederland' in the category Dance that same year. In 2000 vocalist Martin Hilkhuysen and live drummer Mathijs Beukema joined Longplayers. Started out as a dual formation, Longplayers has now become a professional, complete and unique band in the Dutch dance scene. In the past few years Longplayers has built up a reputation on various stages and festivals in the Netherlands by putting on energetic live shows. An extra dimension is given by regular cooperation with breakdance formation Stylez Confidential and guitarist Barry de Kok. Longplayers played at festivals as Werfpop, Schollenpop, Bevrijdingsfestival Rotterdam, Eurosonic, A2A, Metropolis and Dance Valley. Besides that, Longplayers performed at clubs like Paard van Troje, Melkweg, Waterfront, Paradiso, 013 and Doornroosje. In the meantime Longplayers has released two cd's under their own control.
