There are atleast four artists with the name Kolo: 1) Rapper from Atlanta. 2)KOLO - An indie/rock 3 piece from Exeter. Formed in the summer of 2005 by three former schoolmates (Jon Burnell, Ryan Lock & Mark Lee), split in early 2009. KOLO established a large nationwide fanbase through a combination of their intensive gigging and the distribution of their acclaimed debut release, the 'Normandy House EP', to over 4,000 music lovers across the country for free. In 2007 KOLO's second EP, 'Thank You For The Burning Sensation', was recorded and released, and was once again distributed to thousands of fans for free. 2008 was KOLO's most successful year, starting with a sell out gig in Dublin Caste, Camden, at which they were spotted by Nashville based producer, Sean Gasaway. By April KOLO were touring USA, where they played over 30 gigs in 3 months, as well as recording with Chris Henderson (3 Doors Down) at his Rivergate Studio in Hendersonville, TN. It was through working with Chris that KOLO were invited to support 3 Doors Down on the UK leg of their autum 2008 world tour. KOLO supported 3 Doors Down in October 2008, with gigs at IndigO2 (in what was formerly the millenium dome) in London, Glasgow Carling Academy, Bristol Carling Academy and Manchester Academy, selling over 600 copies of their final release 'Vikings EP' and playing to over 10,000 people in the process. KOLO split in the spring of 2009. Jon Burnell (guitar, vocals) now fronts Kosmo Kings. Mark Lee (bass, synth) now plays in Hot Dub Bikini Party along with second KOLO drummer, Benjamin Camp. 3)Kolo (Коло) is a Folk/Ambient band from Ukraine featuring Munruthel of Nokturnal Mortum fame.
