Dong Bang Shin Ki/동방신기 (DBSK), also known as Dong Bang Shin Gi (DBSG), Tong Vfang Xien Qi (TVXQ/TVfXQ in China and International fanbases), and 東方神起/Tohoshinki (THSK) in Japan is a South Korean boy band made up of five individuals who have a broad scope of fans in Asia and the US. Kim JunSu who is known as Xiah Junsu was the first member to be part of the band. He is also a music writer and composer, singer and an occasional actor. Kim Jaejoong, also known as Hero is also a singer-songwriter, composer and occasional actor. Jung Yunho known to fans as U-Know is the groups leader, he is a singer, occasional actor, rapper Park Yoochung known to TVXQ fans as Mickey is also known to be a composer, singer, songwriter and occasional actor. And finally, the youngest of the band is Shim Chang Min is known to fans as Max Changmin and he is known for singing with the band, modeling and acting. Following their first appearance in December 2003 alongside BoA and Britney Spears, Dong Bang Shin Ki released their first album 'TRI-ANGLE' in 2004 and managed the #1 spot on Korean music charts just 3 months later. On September 12, 2005, DBSK released their sophomore album 'Rising Sun'. The album's popularity quickly spread past Korea to Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and further overseas. After releasing their '1st Live Concert Album : Rising Sun' early in the summer of 2006, the band moved to Japan, successfully releasing their first Japanese album, which consisted their older Japanese singles and several new songs. In late August 2006, Dong Bang Shin Ki returned to Korea with the release of their third album 'O'-正.反.合 (O. Jung. Ban. Hap.) featuring the band with a more mature image. Within its first month, the album reached the 100,000 sales mark.To this day they sold 395,105 copies of this album. On March 14, 2007, they released their second Japanese album, "Five in the Black". Currently they've released 23 Japanese singles. Their 4th single "Ashita wa Kuru Kara" was featured as the 17th ending of the anime ONE PIECE.On January 23, 2008, they released their third japanese album "T". On July 22, 2008,TVXQ became the first non-Japanese artist to have three number ones on the weekly Oricon singles chart, when their single " Why Did I Fall In Love With You? " attained number one.They are one of the few Korean bands to secure over 390,000 attendees at concerts. Dong Bang Shin Ki has also appeared in commercials, dramas, talk shows and radio shows. In 2005, the band released their own set of banjun dramas starring the band members themselves, which were widely accepted by their fanbase, Cassiopeia. Their own TV DRAMA, Vacation, was presented on a movie screen in Korea and they have already finished shooting the sequel, Dating on Earth. Recently the entire band has appeared on X-MAN, Yashimanman and several radio shows. Despite a recent incident in which an anti-fan delivered a threatening letter and a drink laced with cyanoacrylate to band leader, U-Know Yunho, and Youngwoong Jaejoong's knee injury requiring surgery in 2005, Dong Bang Shin Ki remains determined at what they do. Each member has their own distinct style, personality and voice, and they manage to work together to create a sound and an image appreciated by fans worldwide. On September 21, 2008, TVXQ performed a showcase event entitled TVXQ’s "Giving Young Adults Hopes and Dreams-Fall Mini Concert" for the release of their fourth studio album. It was located in front of City Hall, Seoul Plaza. This was TVXQ's first public performance for their fourth album; they performed the title song, "주문 (Mirotic)". The group's 4th Korean album entitled "MIROTIC" was released on September 26th, 2008; it was originally scheduled for release on September 24th, but was delayed due to the pre-order amount of 330,000 albums."MIROTIC" is currently the best selling album of 2008 in Korea. The Japanese version of the title song, entitled "呪文 -MIROTIC-", was released on October 15th and became the group's fifth single to reach the number one position on the Oricon Daily charts. It also became the group's fourth Japanese single to reach number one on Oricon's weekly chart, breaking their own record and making them the only artist to have four singles top the chart in one year. They have beaten other top Japanese bands such as SMAP, Arashi, and NewS, who have only had 3 releases this year. The group has also done a cover of the popular One Piece intro "We Are" by Hiroshi Kitadani. TVXQ was invited to the prestigious Japanese Kohaku Music Festival on 31st December 2008. It is a highly regarded honor for any artist and a feat achieved only by the most successful musicians of the year. TVXQ also became the first Korean band to be invited to this festival. TVXQ released their 25th Japanese single "Bolero" on January 21st. "Bolero" will be a theme song for the Japanese movie, "Subaru". TVXQ will also make their debut on screen on "Subaru". The members of TVXQ will appear in one scene in which Meisa Kuroki’s character visits a bar. They are said to have no speaking lines, but will perform on a stage during the scene.
