Contemporary house music's most prolific producer, Felipe Gordon, delivers his second EP for Clone offshoot Royal Oak. Whereas his first, 2022's 'Impresiones Acidas', added oodles of TB-303 trickery to his usual jazz-funk-flecked deep house sound, this four-tracker seems more informed by vintage New Jersey garage and turn-of-the-90s NYC deep house. The headline attraction is 'For Martha', a bumpin' excursion rich in squelchy synth-bass, synthesiser horn sounds and deliciously dreamy chords. Kai Alce delivers an even more old school-sounding revision blessed with his usual warming and jazz-flecked instrumentation, before the Colombian producer returns with 'Waves', a spacey, off-kilter, percussion-rich workout of the sort we'd usually associate with Glenn Underground or Ron Trent, and the hazy, all-action early morning delight that is 'The Beginning Of That Lonesome Road'.
